Fasnacht
(Swiss Mardi Gras - Costume/Masquerade Dance)
Sunday, March 2, 2014; 1 - 5 pm

$15 admission (includes finger foods); $2, Grades 8 and under, with an adult

Beat the winter doldrums and get a taste of a wacky Swiss tradition! A fun event the whole family can enjoy, masks and/or costumes are encouraged, but not required, with one of the highlights of the afternoon being the taking of a group picture for all who come in costume.

In addition to the dance itself, admission includes finger foods and hors d’oeuvres, with bar service available. By special arrangement, the dance will be played by the popular Greg Anderson Band.

Fasnacht, Switzerland's version of Mardi Gras, is a multi-day celebration before the beginning of Lent, featuring drum and piccolo bands, mimes, out-of-tune brass bands, local humor and satire, food, drink, and costumed revelers wandering the streets. Turner Hall's Fasnacht celebration, although on a much smaller scale, captures the fun and spirit of the Swiss tradition.
