Grand Hall
Free-will Donation

Imagine a comfortable evening in your living room with good friends, good conversation and good music... and that will best describe this special evening with Bill Niederberger and his accordion music.

Dialoging with host Del Heins, Bill will not only play music from his recently released cd, The Songs I Know, but will also share conversation about his background, the history of the accordion, and the unique story of how the cd came to be.

An accomplished accordionist who is comfortable with a wide variety of musical styles, Bill lives in Verona with his wife, Judy. He performs frequently throughout south-central Wisconsin, including at the Ratskeller Restaurant in the Turner Hall of Monroe.

Bill's cd, The Songs I Know, will be available for sale that evening. Songs included on the cd, some of which will be performed live that evening, are Could I Have This Dance?; Durch den Wald; Edelweiss; Flowers From Mother's Garden; Golondrina; Green, Green Grass of Home; Happy Wanderer; La vie en rose; Marina; Wooden Heart; March of the Penguins; Tyrolean Waltz; When Irish Eyes are Smiling; Swiss on Rye; Blue Moon; Shätzeli; Just Another Polka; Beautiful Heaven; and Danny Boy. Bill is generously donating the proceeds from cd sales to Turner Hall's debt retirement.

Del Heins, an accomplished accordionist and musician in his own right, will join Bill on a few numbers, including a couple vocal selections. (Pictured below, Bill on the left, Del on the right.)

To compliment your entire evening, the Ratskeller Restaurant, with its authentic Swiss cuisine located in the lower level of the Turner Hall, will be open from 5 - 9 p.m. Reservations are suggested, and diners should mention that they will be attending the program at 7:30 p.m.

As part of Turner Hall's Swiss Heritage Series, Bill & The Songs I Know, as well as other programs during 2005, is supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the National Endowment for the Arts.
